Hurstbourne Baptist Church
1/25/26
– While Hurstbourne Baptist Church members are apart due to the weather, we encourage individuals and families to use this guide for at-home worship of the Lord.
Call to Worship – Psalm 104:31-35
31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord rejoice in his works,
32 who looks on the earth and it trembles,
who touches the mountains and they smoke!
33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
34 May my meditation be pleasing to him,
for I rejoice in the Lord.
35 Let sinners be consumed from the earth,
and let the wicked be no more!
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
Praise the Lord!
Adoration – Sing “Psalm 150 (Praise the Lord)”
Confession & Assurance – 1 Peter 2:22-24
– Recognizing that Christ willingly went to the cross and bore the burden of our sins for us so that we could have life and forgiveness, let’s meditate on the reality of Christ’s sacrifice for us:
22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
Prayer: Almighty and Heavenly Lord, we come before You in humility and in confession, recognizing that You are the perfect, matchless, holy God—and we are broken, sinful people who are prone to stray from Your ways. God, forgive us for the times when we have placed our pleasures and desires above Your ways and Your will. Be merciful to us.
Lord, we thank you that, by the blood of Jesus Christ, we have been redeemed and cleansed from all unrighteousness. Now, by the power of Your Spirit, we devote ourselves to Your glory. May our lives reflect the beauty of your love, majesty, and glory—that we will be used for Your kingdom purposes and that the lost and broken souls all around us will receive eternal hope in Christ. Amen.
Thanksgiving – Sing “Jesus Paid It All”

Instruction from God’s Word
Prayer: Lord God, help us turn our hearts to you and hear what you will speak, for you speak peace to your people through Christ, our Lord. Amen. – based on Psalm 85:8
– Read and hear from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Colossians to be instructed by God’s Word:
Colossians 3:1-17 – If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming. 7 In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. 8 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.
12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Prayer in Response to God’s Word – Almighty and loving God, we bless you for the gift of your Word. We pray now for the grace to believe what we have heard, and to live in ways that honor you above all. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Song of Response
– Sing the “Doxology” in response to God’s Word:
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Him, all creatures here below.
Praise Him above ye heav’nly host.
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Benediction – 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13
12 and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you,13 so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.
